"Take the Challenge" with Healthy Kids Challenge in the Dance for Health™!
The 2008 – 2009 school year contest has ended, but join us in congratulating Wichita County Junior High School, the winner of the Day of Dance with Sabrina Bryan! For information about the 2009 – 2010 Dance for Health, refer back to the Web site this summer.
Dance for Health™ is a national fundraising event brought to you by award winning nonprofit Healthy Kids Challenge. It is a healthy activity for the entire family and raises awareness of healthy lifestyles. For nearly a decade, Healthy Kids Challenge has been helping communities, schools, and youth programs support kids and adults in making healthy eating and physical activity a habit.
2008 – 2009 School Year Winner - Wichita County Junior High School
It started with a depressed economy and condemned junior high-school gym, and ended with the “Bollywood” and Disney’s Cheetah Girl and Dancing with the Stars performer coming to Leoti, Kansas!
Without a gymnasium, due to structural damage, and failure to pass a much needed bond issue to upgrade facilities, the 106 junior high students were proactive and raised almost $5,000 to purchase active play equipment they can use in their classrooms.
On February 25, 2009 at the Wichita County Schools, High School Gymnasium, Leoti, Kansas, Sabrina Bryan, Healthy Kids Challenge spokesperson, Cheetah Girl, Dancing with the Stars, and BYou celebrity taught 6th, 7th, and 8th graders dance routines and talked with them about healthy lifestyles. The event was sponsored by CIGNA and Mission Foods.
